Perhaps Isaac Newton had Tiger Woods in mind when he formulated his third law of motion: “To every action there is an opposite an equal reaction”. Never before has any sportsman or celebrity reached such dizzying heights and then come crashing down in a matter of just a few days. The cloak of invincibility had finally come off. Tiger was HUMAN!

What is most astonishing about this whole story is that how a minor accident snowballed into the biggest scandal to rock the world of golf. Accidents happen all the time and the causes are plenty! Even if there was some tension in the Woods household, one could easily come up with a reasonable and believable explanation for the mishap. Is it possible that Elin Nordegren herself leaked the news to the media? How else would the blood thirsty wolves disguised as parparazzi connect a minor accident to Tiger Woods’ “transgressions”! That would put even Sherlock Holmes to shame.

Now that the proverbial can of worms is out, people have as varied views as the number of stars in this universe. My personal take is that a celebrity’s personal life cannot remain private and personal. There is no free lunch in this world. Thats the price you pay for being famous and rich; your every step scrutinized and every movement recorded. It might be politically correct to say that one should not interfere in his personal life, but that is just deluding ourselves from the reality. When your actions or inactions impact millions of people, how can your personal life remain personal! If Gandhi would be sleeping around with women, wouldn’t history have been different? When you are a celebrity of Tiger Wood’s stature you are not only admired but you are also worshipped. You are a demi-god-role-model to millions of children and adults who look upto you and want to be like you. Tiger was a fierce competitor but at the same time considered a family man. He was man of integrity and honor. He may not have been the most gregarious person but had charisma accentuated by his sheepish smile. So when that faith and trust that people have, is breached, there is no turning back and lives will have forever changed. For people who disagree with me, please see Spiderman; “With great power, comes great responsibility”. Sorry Tiger, there aint gonna be any “Privacy” for you.

Alright, enough of Tiger bashing! What has happened is condemnable, but make no mistake about it; Tiger Woods has changed the face of golf and sport. He is the greatest golfer in history, the greatest sportsman of our era, prints money like the Fed and and most importantly, dominated a white man’s game and given hope to thousands if not millions around the world. Tiger Woods creates magic on the golf course and I am certain people want him to do what he does best. If only Tiger would come out of his cocoon, face the world and say “I am sorry”. I can guarantee you that people will forgive him over time and this hoopla would come to and end much sooner. By delaying his appearance on TV, Tiger is injecting the parparazzi with more steroids. As difficult as it maybe, he ought to come out in the open and get it over with!

Everyone deserves a second chance and so does Tiger!
